Tiftuf Bermuda creates a dense, fine turf that is quick to green up in the spring, and holds it color late into the fall. In central NC greenup is typical in April, and the lush green color will continue until the first hard freeze in November.
Bermudagrass traditionally needs two things to look great. Lots of fertilizer, and lots of water, which leads to lots (and lots) of mowing. Tiftuf Bermuda water usage is nearly half of other types of turf. Even in extended drought Tiftuf maintains its color while others grasses have long been brown and crispy. Tiftuf can also still look great while using less fertilizer than of other types of bermuda, meaning you can mow less and still have a gorgeous manicured lawn.
Typically, shade and bermudagrass do not mix. Tiftuf Bermuda Sod is uniquely adapted to handle light to moderate shade. We recommend a minimum of 5 hours of direct sunlight for Tiftuf.
Tiftuf Bermuda sod is hands down the best performing grass in North Carolina State University research trails held in various locations across our state. Tiftuf built its reputation on its incredible drought resistance, but its outstanding cold tolerance (up to US hardiness zone 6b) is just as important here in NC. Don't forget the class leading traffic tolerance and its ability to repair itself without reseeding.
